"Pray without ceasing.'"
1 Thessalonians 5:17
People of God --
As you know, our Muslim neighbors begin the month of Ramandan this evening. It is a holy time of fasting, community-building, prayer, and reflection.
We are called to be in prayerful solidarity with our Muslim neighbors because we are Abrahamic siblings. We share a common ancestry of faith.
To commemorate the beginning of Ramadan, I humbly share the following three resources:
1. National Catholic-Muslim Dialogue
CLICK HERE to learn more about the ongoing dialogue and partnership between these two Abrahamic traditions in the United States.
2. Document on Human Fraternity
CLICK HERE to read the Document on Human Fraternity, jointly signed by the Grand Imam of al-Azhar, Ahmed el-Tayeb, and Pope Francis in 2019.
3. Ramadan etiquette guide for non-Muslims
CLICK HERE to review tips on how to be more mindful of our Muslim neighbors during Ramadan.
I encourage you to share this information with your family, friends, and coworkers. As Christians in the United States, we are often unaware of our own religious privilege. We our particularly obliged, then, to cultivate awareness and accommodation for all people of faith.
In Peace,
Father Desmond Drummer
