John 19: 1-3
Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged. And the soldiers wove a crown out of thorns and placed it on his head, and clothed him in a purple cloak, and they came to him and said,"Hail, King of the Jews!" And they struck him repeatedly.

As they begin to beat and torture you, the pain is nearly unbearable. For anyone else it would have been, but for love of us, you endure. You hang your head, as they rob you of your strength. Your vision clouds, and all that can be seen is your own blood, splashed across the ground, mixing with the blurred shadows of your tormentors. Still, out of love, you endure.
When our own vision becomes clouded, Lord, help us to remember how deeply we are loved by you, so much so that you have endured death to keep us close to you.
